Benjamin has been collaborating with cello phenomenon Abel Selaocoe to create ‘Four Spirits’, a concerto for cello, voice and orchestra. Abel has already performed the work in Glasgow, Seattle, St Paul MN, Amsterdam, Maastricht, Eindhoven and Helsinki; and is due to perform it over the coming months with the London Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Benjamin has created a number of original arrangements and conducted the score to Card Shark, a forthcoming video game featuring music from Andrea Boccadoro and the French Baroque.
Benjamin orchestrated and conducted Arthur Sharpe’s score to HBO/Sky Atlantic mini series ‘Landscapers’, starring Olivia Colman and David Thewlis.

Benjamin is creating two original arrangements for Abel Selaocoe: Africa Meets Europe, part of the BBC Proms 2021. The works will be performed at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 15th August at 7pm.

Two of Benjamin’s arrangements of James Bond themes will appear on BOND 25, a CD and double vinyl from Decca Records featuring new orchestral arrangements of all 25 iconic James Bond title themes. The album was recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, and will be released on 1st October 2021.
Benjamin has been working as the Musical Director on Terence Davies’ forthcoming feature film Benediction, starring Peter Capaldi, Jack Lowden, Jeremy Irvine and Simon Russell Beale.
Benjamin has arranged and co-produced As You Are, a sound walk for Leeds by cellist, vocalist and composer Abel Selaocoe. As You Are is due to be installed in Leeds city centre in the winter of 2020/21, with tickets available at the Opera North website.
Benjamin was commissioned by Opera North to arrange the work for the orchestra and chorus of Opera North, and a pan-African continuo section of Abel Selaocoe (cello, voice), Anna Mudeka (mbira, voice), Simo Lagnawi (guimbri, voice) and Sidiki Dembele (percussion, ngoni).
Aeons: A Sound Walk for Newcastle has won the 2019 Ivor Novello Award for Sound Art. Created by Martin Green (Lau) and arranged for the chorus and orchestra of Opera North by Benjamin Woodgates.

Benjamin has composed the original score to Dream Horse (dir. Euros Lyn, cast: Toni Collette, Damian Lewis). Dream Horse will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2020, with a UK cinematic release in April.
The score was recorded at Air Studios and Livingston Studios, and will be mixed and mastered at Master Chord Studio and Abbey Road Studios.
The score features musicians Daniel Pioro, Oliver Coates, Ian Watson, Paul Clarvis, Rob Barron and Craig White; and London Contemporary Orchestra, conducted by Hugh Brunt.
Benjamin has orchestrated music for two of 2018’s most anticipated films: Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Benjamin was commissioned to create two new arrangements of Elgar's 'Chanson de Matin' and Binge's 'Elizabethan Serenade' for the marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle at St George's Chapel, Windsor on 19 May 2018.
Benjamin has collaborated with composer and accordionist Martin Green on Aeons, a unique binaural sound journey along the banks of the Tyne taking place this summer as part of the Great Exhibition of the North. Benjamin has arranged Martin's music for the orchestra and chorus of Opera North, which will be recorded at Leeds Town Hall in full binaural sound.
Benjamin has composed original music for Channel 4's coverage of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics.
Benjamin has orchestrated the live score for Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Phantom Thread', adapting Jonny Greenwood's Oscar-nominated soundtrack for live performances with the London Contemporary Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra at IFFR.
Benjamin's setting of Psalm 67 for SATB choir with baritone and soprano soloists has been published in both print and electronic formats by Stainer & Bell.
